On the edge of Saxon Switzerland, in the village of Polenz, sits the historic inn Erbgericht – a building that for generations has served as a meeting place, event venue, and social center of village life. Its history spans multiple political systems and thus reflects the societal transformations of the 20th and early 21st centuries. This site forms the starting point for Andrea Grützner’s body of work Erbgericht (2014–2024), developed over more than a decade. In her photographs, the artist examines the interior spaces of the inn – its parlors, halls, staircases, and architectural details – in which traces of use, memory, and time have become inscribed.

In 2025, the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony once again acquired contemporary artworks through its annual funding purchases, with a total value of around €95,000. A selection of 18 newly acquired works is now being presented at the Representation of the Free State of Saxony to the Federal Government.
